The husband and I decided to take a stroll one day, I think it was around his birthday. We went down our street to take the metro, only to find over 100,000 Quebec students on strike a block from our apartment. I just so happened to have my 35mm Canon AE-1 camera, and quickly began snapping shots (you can tell by the lack of focus). The Quebec government is planning to raise tuition 75%. A lot of reports on this news have always made it necessary to mention that Quebec has the lowest tuition in North America. Whether that’s true or not, I think students in the US, who are paying thousands upon thousands of dollars each year for tuition, should learn from this Quebec protest. Over 200,000 students are protesting and marching around the city for affordable education. Rather than giving into student debt, American students might want to try this out. Can’t hurt.
After the students passed through our streets, we continued our walk, and photographed the city. Montreal can be a lot of fun sometimes.
